The Events, the March

chalrie hebdoCharlie Hebdo. Hidden in a modest office on a small street near the Place de la Republique in Paris, the newspaper that pokes fun at all, no holds barred, has no sign on the door. No one really knew, or cared, where the office was. Today, everyone in the world knows where it is.

Charles Traiteur. The finest kosher deli in the city, has six shiny stores with the best tastes in the city inside.

Both spots were the scenes of a massacre, signaling we’re all not sure what yet, except an attack on liberty and free press, and the Parisian Jewish community. These things happen around the world, we just didn’t expect them in the country of liberté, egalité, fraternité.

The march on Sunday was balm for the wound. Herewith a few scenes.
