Sunday Evening
Welcome Dinner – A Country Feast!
Welcome to On Rue Tatin this Sunday, for the welcome feast I have prepared for you. This is your chance to meet your fellow participants, get to know the kitchen and the dining room, and begin to settle into your week at On Rue Tatin!
Day One – Monday
Morning and Evening hands-on cooking classes, each followed by a meal. Afternoon break between classes.
Morning class begins at 10:30 a.m. You will put on your apron and head to the light and airy professionally appointed kitchen, where a luscious display of local and sustainably produced ingredients awaits. The class will open with a brief discussion and tasting, then we’ll get right to the real fun of the day, cooking, laughing, creating a meal, which we will then enjoy in the timbered dining room.
Evening class begins at 5:30 p.m. We’ll have a tasting, then prepare supper, which we will enjoy in the dining room, by candlelight.
Day Two – Tuesday
Today we begin our hands-on class at 10:30 a.m. with a whole new array of gorgeous, local ingredients. We’ll have a tasting, then you will cook your way to a lunch which, if the weather permits, we’ll enjoy in the courtyard with the garden and the church as our backdrop. After lunch, you have well-deserved free time, and a chance to explore the town and the area.
Day Three – Wednesday
Market Visit followed by Hands-on Class and Lunch; Evening hands-on Class and Supper. Afternoon break between classes.
We gather at On Rue Tatin at 8:30 a.m. for a trip to the lively cacophony of a village market in the town of Le Neubourg, twenty minutes by car from Louviers, through lush farmland. We will return from Le Neubourg with laden baskets, which we transform into a gorgeous lunch. I’ll have local cider chilling, for us to enjoy alongside.
After a break, you will return to On Rue Tatin for a hands-on class and dinner with a local producer.
Day Four – Thursday
Visit to Rouen and artisans. Afternoon and Evening free.
Today we visit Rouen, the urban heart of Normandy and antique capital of France, noted for its artisanally made faience, or pottery. We’ll visit a beautiful cheese shop, have lunch at a contemporary bistro, and have time to shop. You are free for the afternoon and evening to either stay in Rouen, or return to Louviers.
Day Five – Friday
Hands-on class and Farewell Lunch
Today you will prepare a sumptuous meal that will bring together everything you’ve learned and experienced during the week.
